Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz aims to support its scientists in translating scientific findings into practical applications and to advance science- or technology-based innovations and startups by providing start-up funding for innovative projects and startups.
The start-up funding is intended for the project or pre-founding phase with the aim of securing third-party funding in the short to medium term. Academic staff members with a doctoral degree may apply. Doctoral students may submit an application for support in writing a business plan or for the evaluation of a business plan.
Material and service costs related to the following can be funded:
- Potential analysis/idea validation. By providing a Proof of Concept (PoC), you demonstrate that your idea is feasible and has the potential for economic viability. The goal is to submit an application to EXIST Transfer of Research, VIP+, or equivalent funding programs. The maximum funding amount is 15,000 €.
- Support for writing a business plan or the evaluation of a business plan. The maximum funding amount is 5,000 €.
Personal financial contributions are not obligatory in these cases.
An advising session must be held prior to the submission of the application for start-up funding with Knowledge and Technology Transfer (FT2): technologietransfer@uni-mainz.de / startup@uni-mainz.de. Phone: 31704 or 24387.
