All members of the Johannes Gutenberg-Universität Mainz can contact the Ombudsperson on questions of good scientific practice or scientific misconduct. They are entitled to speak to the ombudsperson within a short period of time. In case of bias or obstruction, a deputy is available.
The ombudsperson examines allegations for correctness and significance with regard to possibilities to dispel the allegations. If this does not succeed, he forwards the case to the relevant Senate commission for formal investigation.
The ombudsperson also advises all persons, in particular young scientists and students, who have been involved in a process of scientific misconduct through no fault of their own, with regard to safeguarding their personal and scientific integrity.
